Most people consider the beautiful smiles we see on celebrities’ faces and Hollywood actors as the epitome of oral health and beauty. This is why teeth whitening treatments are more popular than ever.

A bright and beautiful smile is a great accessory. In fact, your smile is the first thing anyone will notice about you. Unfortunately, most people are conscious of their smiles due to the color of their teeth.

If you’re one of them, there are numerous teeth whitening tips you should consider to give you a beautiful smile. These tips include:

  1. Schedule Teeth Whitening Treatments

Are you unable to get rid of yellow-tinted teeth with only toothpaste and daily flossing? Consider getting teeth whitening help by scheduling treatments with your dentist. Professional teeth whitening treatments will help you safely eliminate the yellow coloring on your teeth.

If you’re in doubt, visit dentists at Smile Solutions, and they will reassure you of the safety and effectiveness of these treatments. In fact, you may see results with just the first visit. Professional teeth whitening is designed to remove any existing stains on your teeth.

Unfortunately, these treatments can’t prevent future stains. This means that you have to take precautions to ensure your teeth remain crisp white. The treatment can last you between three months to three years. But with the care and regular maintenance, you can get the treatment to last longer.

  1. Maintain Your Dental Hygiene

The best teeth whitening advice you can get is to take care of your dental hygiene. Having a dental hygiene routine in place is the best way to keep your gums, teeth, and mouth healthy. You should floss at least once per day, brush twice daily, and rinse with mouthwash every day.

Proper teeth cleaning will protect you from gum diseases and tooth decay. While brushing your teeth will remove any plaque from your teeth’ surface, the toothbrush can’t reach everywhere. This is where the mouthwash and the floss come in to remove any remaining foodstuffs and get rid of bacteria.

Flossing once per day will help remove any plaque build-up between your teeth. This protects you from the risk of gum disease, which is the most significant cause of tooth loss in the U.S. Disinfecting mouthwash will reach the areas of your mouth that can’t be reached with flossing and brushing alone.

If you struggle with gingivitis and cavities, you should use a disinfecting mouthwash. This oral hygiene routine is essential for keeping your teeth white for longer. You can also consider using a whitening toothpaste for more protection.

  1. Swap Your Toothbrush Often

The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrushes every three or four months. You should also replace it sooner if you realize it’s starting to appear frayed. The more your toothbrush ages, the more the bristles wear off.

This is why older toothbrushes are less effective at cleaning teeth. Weaker bristles can’t clean your teeth’ plaque effectively, leading to build-up and eventually stained teeth. Frayed toothbrush bristles are also at risk of growing and retaining fungus and bacteria, making them unsanitary for use.

Buying a fresh toothbrush every three months or so will help you keep your mouth cleaner and breath fresher.

  1. Consider Purchasing a Soft-Bristled Brush

When cleaning the stubborn stains on any surface of your home, you may use a hard cloth to scrub them off. Unfortunately, this analogy doesn’t work for your teeth. Scrubbing your teeth too hard or using a hard-bristled brush will do more harm.

Therefore, when shopping for a toothbrush, ensure you settle for one with softer bristles. Using a toothbrush with stiff bristles will lead to the irritation of your gum. It can also result in enamel erosion with time.

This often grows into teeth sensitivity and receding gums. And even when using a soft-bristled toothbrush, don’t scrub too hard, do it gently.

Another perfect option is to buy an electric toothbrush. They are equipped with softer bristles and protect your teeth from enamel erosion. If you press too hard, the electric brush will stop, notifying you that you should reduce the pressure.

  1. Change Your Diet to Include Healthy Snacks

Everyone knows that eating sugary things could result in cavities. However, they aren’t the only culprit of cavities. Carbohydrates such as pasta and bread often stick on your teeth, exposing your teeth’ surface to the food for too long.

Unfortunately, carbohydrates often break down into sugar, which is unhealthy for your teeth. The best way to avoid cavities is to stick to healthy snacks and avoid eating carb and sugar-based snacks throughout the day. You should try eating vegetables and fruits as an alternative.

Fruits and vegetables are great for your overall body health too. Fruits such as apples are high in water and fiber. They are also a great source of natural fluoride, which is great for your teeth.

On the other hand, vegetables like spinach are a great source of calcium and high in vitamins. Calcium is excellent for your enamel and bones. You should also incorporate yogurt, almonds, and other types of nuts into your daily diet for stronger teeth and bones.

  1. Visit the Dentist Regularly

On top of all the simple teeth whitening tips above, you should regularly visit your dentist. It’s recommended that you see your dentist twice every year for professional teeth cleaning. This is a significant preventative measure and will help you maintain your teeth’ health.

During a professional dental cleaning, the dentist will help you clean hard-to-reach areas of your mouth and remove plaque build-up into tartar. They will also detect any cavities and spot potential dental problems, giving you a chance to get a head start on them.

Ready to Practice the Above Teeth Whitening Tips?

While it’s essential to love your smile and feel confident in it, you should also keep your teeth healthy. Thanks to the above teeth whitening tips, you can rest easy knowing that your teeth are well taken care of. All you need is to make a few changes to your daily routine, and you will be good to go.
