Additionally, this technique is nothing new and has been used for a long time in sales-based occupations to encourage employees to meet and beat targets. However, it is only nowadays that other fields outside of sales have begun to use rewards to boost productivity.

Your employees will never be able to reach their full potential if an inadequate or non-existent support network is hobbling their efforts. This will vary from business to business, but generally speaking, team members need a solid management team to guide their actions and a great human resources team to discuss their occupational advancement. To give an example, you can think of an employee being promised more autonomy to complete their assignments, and if they meet them on time, they will get a bonus. For this to happen, you will need to inform your HR and accounting teams about the rewards program so they can pay it promptly, but you will also need to provide all the tools necessary for your employee to complete the task. This could be IT-related or merely informing line managers to give employees the space they need to work.

A business without a good management team is doomed to fail. The reason is that a good management team will lookout for the company’s long-term success and will be willing to make tough decisions to benefit the company’s future. This includes making changes and taking calculated risks and implementing new ideas into the company’s strategy. A good management team should also listen to its stakeholders and act in accordance with their needs. The best managers are those that provide:

  • Vision
  • Leadership
  • Accountability to its employees

Providing Feedback On A Real-time Basis

Continuous feedback is essential for organizations to ensure that employees develop in areas where they struggle. Feedback is one of the ways that brains learn and adapt. The benefits of providing feedback on a real-time basis include:

  • Improved learning and decision making: When employees know what they are doing wrong, they can stop doing it. Conversely, when they know what they are doing right, they can expand on it.
  • Increased performance: With a fresh understanding of how they work, they will expand and improve working practices. Moreover, providing feedback is a great way to boost their autonomous working habits.
  • Higher employee satisfaction: Put simply, if they know what a great job they are doing, they will have a renewed sense of pride. 
  • Decrease in turnover rate: Companies that offer little feedback find that their employees leave more often. For example, it can be frustrating to work for months on a project only to be told it is not right and need to start again.

High-performance work practices are behaviors that help your employees work more effectively while fostering a productive workplace. They’re simple, and many of the practices are common sense. They can range from allowing your team to work autonomously to hiring incredible management teams who can provide constructive feedback while remaining in the background.
