Taking Extra Steps To Care For Your Health

Caring for your health is a full-time job but necessary to preserve wellbeing. You might think that you’re already doing a lot to care for your health, but the truth is, you could do more! We could all benefit from putting more care and thought into our health, but every day, this can be a challenging task! If you’re ready to start caring for your health and going the extra mile, here are some ways you can start taking extra steps today.

Stretch Whenever You Can

Stretching helps keep the circulation flowing in the body. Make a point to stretch as often as you can. Most of us are sitting for the majority

of the workday. Stretching can be incorporated into your day whenever you need to recharge and redirect your energy toward taking care of your body.

Preventative care matters! Whether you decide to take up a yoga class or do neck rolls from your desk, know that it is beneficial for your health. Our bodies need to stay moving for us to feel at our best, so keep your body happy by stretching whenever you can! If you notice involuntary shaking or tremors hours after a workout, visit your doctor to rule out essential tremor symptoms.

Take Mental Breaks

Throughout the workday, you need to take mental breaks for yourself. You can’t expect to move from work task to work task without coming up for air. Running on empty is no way to live, and even if you work well under pressure, it is not sustainable! Make an intention to give yourself five-minute breaks in-between your workday tasks.

If you sit down to complete a task that takes you 25 minutes, give yourself that five minutes of downtime to recover. During this time, drink some water to stay hydrated. Your work and body will appreciate you for it. You can consider implementing productivity timers to keep you on track with your work. Consider the strategies you can implement to make adding in mental breaks throughout the day easier.

Follow A Routine

Make sure to follow a daily routine to keep your balance. There are many ways to follow a routine; find the best approach for you! Having a time that you wake up and go to bed can give your body clock consistency, which can help with improving your energy levels throughout the day and improve your quality of sleep. Setting up blocks of time during the day is also essential if you want to make time for exercise, meals, and free time outside of work.

Journal Your Feelings

Everyone needs an outlet for their stress. Journaling is a healthy way to release pent-up tension that accumulates throughout the day. We all need to focus more on our thoughts and feelings, so by incorporating a stress reduction practice like journaling, we can more directly relieve our mental stress and note patterns of thinking that we want to improve.

Get a journal you enjoy writing in and use a pen or pencil that feels good to write with. Look forward to your time journaling each day or week to cultivate a healthy habit you will practice long-term!

Taking extra steps to care for your health can help you feel better. The more you put into bettering your health, the more these positive effects will trickle into different areas of your life.
